We continued our learning about rain forests along side some Father's Day crafting this week. The kids added some monkeys and butterflies to their rain forest. We learned about camouflage, who lives in the various layers of the rain forest and why those locations are beneficial to them, and why half the worlds creatures live there.
The kids dropped food colouring onto salt drawings and watched the liquid travel, as well as blend with other colours to make new ones. It was pretty exciting! They also stretched their fine motor muscles by making twisted pipe cleaner monkeys.
What a week of weather it has been! We went from rain suits and toques to shorts and sunscreen. We don't mind! There was a lot of puddle jumping, grassy hill sliding and Nose Hill adventures to do!
We also brought out some musical instruments to explore. We practiced following a beat to familiar nursery rhymes and had a little fun making things up along the way!
