What a fun week in the sun! We played in the sprinkler, went on adventures, ate popsicles, made play dough and sewed/stuffed little felt teddybears. We also visited a Stay 'n' Play where we made maracas, played parachute games and had fun colouring. It's been a treat to have activities happening within the community. We said another good bye this week to a little girl who has been with us for quite sometime. It never gets easier saying good bye to the little ones that have been such a huge part of my life! All the best, and hope to see you again soon! We have had small numbers over these past couple of summer weeks, and will continue to while a few are away. I hope all those on vacation/holidays are having a wonderful time away with family! The weather has been all over the place. We have been out rain or shine, with the hats and sunscreen or the jackets and umbrellas! We... -Had fun in the rain. -Found beautiful flowers in the park. -Adventured to far off parks. -Fun with baking soda and coloured vinegar. -Baked cookies. -Put together puzzles -Built with magnets, blocks and screws/screwdrivers. July 6th, 2018 We had some good old summer fun this week! -Eating popsicles -Playing in and drinking from the sprinkler -Going to the park -Rolling down hills -Throwing frisbees and doing tricks with hula hoops -Smelling flowers -Painting -Playing with ice -Making forts …and just generally enjoying the sun! June 29th, 2018 What a week it has been! We have had to say a few goodbyes. It is hard to believe that these little ones are growing up! Among the goodbyes and sad moments we have had some really exciting moments. We went to the movie theatre, some for the first time, and watched The Incredibles 2. We also had a great time adventuring out to some far away parks and had a couple picnics. We celebrated Canada’s 151st birthday this week as well. We made Canada flags using our traced hands to make the maple leaf. We learned about Canadian money and the pictures on the face of the coins. Michael Mitchell’s song “Canada In My Pocket” was very helpful for this. We spent some time learning about the beaver; how it makes it’s home and how it’s body is adapted to do so. We made a paper bag beaver puppet, and used a ruler to make straight lines for the beaver’s tail. They are getting really good at using rulers! Some others activities we did this past week included stringing beads onto fishing line to make necklaces, making Jello, and sharing the last of Elliot’s adventures together. |
