Daily Schedule

Here is a basic schedule that gives you an idea of what our routine is like. Our activities, within the routines, may vary depending on the theme that week.  Our times during the day may vary slightly as well.

Preschool hours typically run from 9:00am-3:30pm.

Arrival  7:30am-9:00am

Children are greeted at the door and from there are asked to wash their hands. Upon freshly washed hands, they engage in free-play until our Morning Meeting.

Morning Meeting  9:15am

Morning Meeting includes a variety of learning activities that evolve throughout the year, as the children learn and grow.

-Theme learning
-Special leader days and activities
-Fine motor work
-Pattern making
​-Shapes
-Calendar- number recognition, counting, days of the week, the month, the season, the weather
-Creative Journaling
​-Story read aloud

Snack and Outside  10:00am​

Children are provided a snack, that often tends to be a second breakfast, ie: eggs, toast, oatmeal, muffins, fruit, etc.

After Snack, we get ourselves ready to head outdoors. We are often out and about at the neighbourhood playgrounds (this has be put on hold due to Covid-19), the many green spaces in the community  and NoseHill Park (It's a great place for exploring nature and science concepts and is also great exercise!). We are quite active and love to be outside as much as we can!

Lunch  12:30pm

A lunch is provided to children around 12:30pm. We often like to have foods that are easily eaten with fingers ie: wraps, mini sandwiches, raw fruits and veggies, cheeses, nuts, etc. Some other meal favourites tend to be pastas, rice/stir fry type dishes and soups with grilled cheese. Every so often we have a "special lunch" which is usually mac and cheese or hot dogs. While lunch is being prepared, children engage in Free-Play.

Rest Time 1:15pm

I read a picture book and a few pages from the chapter book they are currently listening to. If we have nappers, we then turn on quiet music to give those children a chance to fall asleep if they haven't already. The children who do not sleep then watch two 25 minute shows while I clean up from lunch and prepare the afternoon activities. There are many great learning shows that we like right now!

Letter Learning 2:45pm

Throughout the year we work on letter recognition, letter sounds, and name spelling/building. Often times they will  be ready to start writing their names and words that are important to them. We do this through many songs and activities, ie: letter matching, scavenger hunts for letters, practicing varying physical motions, etc.

​Science, Arts and Crafts  3:00pm

We love doing science experiments!

Our arts and crafts are often in line with our weekly theme but also  include process art. We love learning about artists through our artist studies.

We like to do our afternoon activities outside if we can!

Snack and Free Play 3:30pm

A second snack is provided and the children spend the rest of their day choosing the activities they would like to do.

Parents are asked to wait outside while their child is getting ready to leave..
