It's closer to Halloween and the kids are definitely getting excited! We spent our week doing reading pumpkin themed stories and doing pumpkin themed activities. The kids practiced working together to sequence uppercase and lowercase pumpkin letters, they painted little white pumpkins, they played a pumpkin matching game, they pasted together different shapes for Jack-O-Lantern faces in their journals, and they identified/sequenced pumpkin feelings from our song. Oh and we can't forget our pumpkin workout!
We started getting the pumpkins ready for Halloween. We have one done! Every year there are always some who really love the messy business of scooping out pumpkins and there are some who don't even want the open pumpkin to get anywhere near them. So funny!
The kids also made and used puffy paint,
Our letters this week were O and Q. The kids practiced drawing the circular motion of O. Some turned theirs into a lovely collage of O shapes and some lined with Os up on their page very neatly in rows. They searched for Q in their journals and some practiced writing it. They also did some fine motor line tracing to get to the pumpkin.
