Our main focus this week was on boats; what makes a boat float, the types of boats and different ways in which boats are powered/can move. We made a variety of boats ie; apple sailboats, made with apples, foam and toothpicks, a pop bottle and chopstick boat that uses a propeller to move in the water, and a baking soda and vinegar boat that uses the pressure from the chemical reaction to power it. We also made a sailboat craft where we used cupcake lines, foam and toothpicks.
We played a couple of games this week including a tugboat colour matching memory game and a find the sailboat letter and race back to the board to write it down game.
We spent some time this week talking about the Paralympics, and understanding that just because someone may look different doesn't mean they cannot compete. We had a very special guest join us to talk about and show her equipment for skeleton. The kids had a great time trying on the equipment and learning how to lay on the skeleton sled.
Elliot continues his journey to a different home this week. He is having so many adventures!
We spent time on letters Q and G this week and journaled about the Paralympics.
Of course we cannot forget about the very special 5th birthday that happened this week! We we had fun baking mini cupcakes and singing happy birthday!
